In 2018, the founders of Roll Play and Grow embarked on a journey to harness the power of tabletop role-playing games (TRPGs) to develop crucial social-emotional learning (SEL) skills, including social awareness, social skills, self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making. Recognizing the impact that immersive storytelling and interactive play can have, we began integrating these methods into our programs, helping children, adolescents, and adults grow through engaging and meaningful experiences.

As part of our own growth, we have been developing an innovative role-playing game specifically designed to be both entertaining and a practical tool for use in therapeutic clinics, schools, and homes. Our game aims to help participants cultivate the SEL skills necessary for personal and social development.

In 2023 and 2024, we received a generous grant to launch a pilot program to train teachers, special education teachers, therapists, and other professionals on effectively using TRPGs, like our game Legends of Lorem™, to teach SEL skills in educational, clinical, and community settings. This initiative is part of our commitment to providing professionals with the tools and knowledge to bring SEL learning into classrooms and therapeutic environments.

Looking ahead to 2025 and 2026, we are laying the groundwork for comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research studies. Our goal is to deepen our understanding of how Legends of Lorem™ and other TRPGs can impact SEL development in children, adolescents, and young adults, ensuring that our programs are evidence-based and continuously improving to meet the needs of our communities.
